Cat’s Creative Wake-Up Call Involves a Mason Jar of Water

No matter how carefully we set our alarms or plan our mornings, pets often have their own ideas about when the day should begin. For one cat owner, his wake-up routine was abruptly—and hilariously—taken over by his mischievous cat, Pikachu, who decided that his humans had slept in long enough.

It started as a peaceful morning. The man and his wife were still tucked in bed, enjoying the last precious minutes of sleep before the 6 AM alarm was set to go off. But Pikachu, their opinionated feline, had other plans. With the confidence and determination only a cat could muster, Pikachu sauntered into the bedroom, ready to enforce his own wake-up schedule.

He scanned the room, observing his sleeping humans and clearly deciding that their restful slumber had gone on too long. Then, his eyes landed on a mason jar of water perched innocently on the nightstand. In true cat fashion, Pikachu saw the jar not as a harmless object but as an opportunity—a weapon of choice to get his human out of bed.

What happened next was a calculated act of feline sabotage. Pikachu hopped onto the nightstand, placed a deliberate paw against the jar, and, with one swift motion, sent it flying. The jar tumbled off the edge and landed squarely on the man’s pillow, spilling water everywhere.

Luckily, the man’s head wasn’t on the pillow at the time, sparing him from being hit by the jar itself. But the cold water soaking into the pillow and mattress ensured that the wake-up call was impossible to ignore. Groggy and startled, the man had no choice but to get out of bed, much to Pikachu’s satisfaction.

“My alarm is set for 6 AM every day,” the man later explained. “But Pikachu decided I’d slept in long enough. Apparently, he thought it was time to start the day—on his schedule, not mine.”

This dramatic and slightly chaotic wake-up call is just another day in the life of living with a cat like Pikachu. While it’s not the most peaceful way to greet the morning, it’s hard not to laugh at the sheer determination and creativity of a pet who knows exactly how to get what he wants.

For anyone with a cat, this scenario is all too relatable. Whether it’s knocking over objects, sitting on your chest, or meowing insistently at the door, cats have a way of reminding us who’s really in charge of the household.
