No one knows exactly how Pickle found himself in such a terrifying situation, but for at least four or five days, he had been wandering near a rodeo with a heavy tire rim stuck around his neck. Whether he had been chasing something and gotten caught or simply had a tragic accident, one thing was certain—he needed help fast.
The tire rim was cutting off circulation, and his head had become swollen from the pressure. Every movement must have been painful, and survival was becoming more difficult by the hour. His rescuers knew that if they didn’t step in soon, Pickle wouldn’t make it.
That’s when volunteers from Three Little Pitties Rescue arrived to do whatever it took to free him. First, they had to carefully sedate him to make sure he wouldn’t panic or injure himself further. Once he was safely unconscious, they began working to remove the heavy rim.
But no matter how hard they tried, it wouldn’t budge. The tire rim was wedged too tightly, and every attempt to pry it off failed. They needed stronger tools—so they called in the fire department for backup.
Firefighters arrived armed with the jaws of life, a powerful tool typically used to cut through metal in car accidents. The delicate process took an entire hour as they carefully worked to break the rim without harming Pickle. Finally, after what felt like an eternity, the metal gave way, and he was free!
Pickle later woke up, confused and disoriented, but it was clear that he felt relief. The weight around his neck was gone, and for the first time in days, he could move freely. His road to recovery had just begun, but thanks to the dedication of his rescuers, he was finally safe.
After a few days of rest and care, Kelly took him home as a foster, giving him a warm, comfortable place to recover. It didn’t take long for Pickle to open up—he started playing with the other dogs, showing his sweet personality for the first time. One of the best moments? When he got to visit a pet store and pick out his very first toy!
Now, Pickle is learning what it means to be a pet—experiencing love, safety, and comfort for the first time in his life. His next step? Finding a forever home where he will never have to struggle again.
