What would you do if you came across three abandoned dogs in the middle of a forest? Would you walk away, or would you take it upon yourself to rescue them? Veronica, a compassionate hiker, didn’t hesitate to choose the latter. During a hike in the rugged Angeles National Forest, she stumbled upon a heart-wrenching sight—three malnourished, abandoned Cane Corsos struggling to survive.

On that fateful day, Veronica noticed a dark figure moving among the trees. At first, she thought it might be a bear. But as she moved closer, her heart sank—it was a lost and abandoned dog. Soon, she spotted two more, forming a trio of forlorn, skittish dogs. Naming them Steve, Grace, and George, Veronica realized they were not only malnourished but had also lost their trust in humans.
Determined to help, Veronica began visiting the spot daily, spending 2-3 hours each time trying to feed the dogs and gain their trust. For over a month, her persistence and kindness slowly paid off. The dogs began to approach her cautiously, signaling the first signs of hope.

However, Veronica soon understood that rescuing three large, wary dogs on her own would be impossible. She reached out to local rescue groups for assistance, and her call was answered by a network of dedicated rescuers. Together, they formulated a plan to safely trap and retrieve the dogs.
After much effort and teamwork, the trio was finally rescued. Steve, Grace, and George were transported to a rehabilitation center, where they received medical care, nourishment, and love. Thanks to Veronica’s unwavering commitment, the dogs began their journey to recovery and were prepared for adoption into loving homes.
