Over 100 Dogs Rescued from Dog Meat Trade Begin New Lives

Last summer, a remarkable rescue mission saved the lives of over 100 dogs on Jindo Island, South Korea. The Humane Society of the United States (HSUS), in partnership with LIFE and Humane Society International/Canada, worked tirelessly to free these animals from the horrors of the dog meat trade.

The rescued dogs had endured neglect and abuse, but their story didn’t end there. Thanks to the collaborative efforts of these organizations, they are now on a path to recovery. Each day, the dogs receive nourishing meals, medical care, treats, and toys, as well as the love and socialization they need to heal emotionally.

The process of rehabilitation is ongoing, but the ultimate goal is to place each dog in a forever home where they will finally know safety and affection. For these survivors, the transformation is nothing short of extraordinary—a journey from a life of hardship to one filled with hope and love.

The dedication of HSUS, LIFE, and Humane Society International/Canada to rescuing and rehabilitating these dogs is a shining example of what compassion can achieve. Their work is a powerful reminder that, together, we can create a brighter future for animals in need.
