Abby, a small, frightened puppy, was discovered shaking in a box after being surrendered by her previous owner. Her face was covered in painful blisters, a sight that broke hearts. Her foster mom, Dina, stepped in to provide care. Yet, the first two weeks were tough. Abby’s blisters worsened, and she avoided human contact, retreating to her kennel to cry. Concerned, Dina took her to the vet, where extensive skin and blood tests were performed to uncover the cause of her ailments.
With proper treatment, Abby began her transformation. She started engaging with other dogs, sitting for treats, and displaying joy when Dina approached. Her appetite returned, sometimes a little too enthusiastically, as she tried to snatch Dina’s food. Abby’s playful personality began to emerge, prompting Dina to teach her fetch and introduce her to new toys. Abby’s curiosity and energy became evident in her antics, from pulling cotton out of pillows to exploring the outdoors with enthusiasm.
While her health improved, Abby’s face remained unique. Scabs caused hair loss, leaving her head completely hairless. Combined with an underbite from her growing adult teeth, Abby’s appearance gave her a perpetual smile, making her all the more endearing.
Dina celebrated every milestone, thrilled to see Abby blossom from a scared, suffering puppy into a joyful, loving dog. Abby’s story is a testament to resilience, care, and second chances.
